Rina iwai is an illustrator based in Japan. She was born in Kanagawa, Japan and worked as a graphic designer after she graduated from Joshibi College Art & Design.
In 2008, she moved to New York City and become a freelance illustrator and have worked for magazines, web magazines, a fashion show and fashion brands. Some of her works have been featured in shows and drawing events at Bloomindale’s. They have also been featured in other local galleries in New York City, Paris and Japan.
Her drawing style is a little bit unique. She uses disposable chopsticks and Sumi Ink as her drawing tools. She loves combining her illustrations and her photos to create her work. She takes inspiration from People-watching, the photos that she took, magazines and scenery of the city.
Through her illustrations, she would like to show the everyday life of girls who live in a slightly surreal world. She loves to draw girls who are going their own way. They make her feel that they are tough-minded and beautiful.

女子美術短期大学情報デザイン専攻を卒業後、
デザイン事務所に勤務。2008年に単身ニューヨークに移住した後に、本格的にフリーのイラストレーターになりました。国内外問わず、雑誌、展示、広告、ディスプレイ、アパレル、Webを中心に活動中です。イベントで似顔絵も描いています。
